Employers can now order coronavirus tests for their employees
The HMRC has established an Online service that will allow employers to order coronavirus rapid lateral flow tests (LFD) for their employees.
The procedure stays the same however in the scenario where employees have symptoms: they should stay at home and order individual tests.
Here are the eligibility criteria for businesses:
- Your business needs to be registered in England
- You employ more than 50 people
- Your employees cannot work from home
*If you have less than 50 employees, your employees should find out whether they can get a lateral flow test from a test site instead.
The HMRC will need your company name, company registration number and contact email. You will need to register for the service before the 31st of March 2021.
What is a lateral flow test (LFD)?
Approximately 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 do not have symptoms, so a test that rapidly detects these otherwise hidden cases is quite a useful additional tool for tackling the virus.
Lateral flow device (LFD) testing is a fast and simple way to test people who do not have symptoms of COVID-19, but who may still be spreading the virus. In some circumstances, lateral flow tests can also be used for other diagnostic tasks. The tests are easy to use and give results in 30 minutes.
